I know what you’re thinking – “What the hell is a Myofascial Massage?”
Myofascial is simply a word describing Muscle (Myo) and Connective Tissue (Fascia).
My type of Myofascial Massage draws inspiration from two very similar but different bodywork techniques, Myofascial Release and Structural Integration.
Both techniques focus on “releasing” the Fascia.
It’s up for discussion whether fascia can actually be “released” but what most people agree on is the techniques used help you feel more freedom of movement with less discomfort.
Myofascial techniques tend to be slow or very slow. The pressure ranges from moderate right up to strong.
Often the session will involve pauses whilst holding the working pressure, range of movement stretches and active movements from the client.
